Iconic 80's Scottish superstar band Simple Minds took the stage at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville on Sunday June 22nd, delivering an unforgettable performance that transported the audience back to the vibrant era of synth-pop and rock music. Known for their anthemic sound and rich musicality, Simple Minds captivated fans with a setlist that included some of their most beloved hits, such as "Don't You (Forget About Me)," "All The Things She Said," and "Alive and Kicking." Their dynamic stage presence and singer Jim Kerr's powerful vocals filled the sweltering outdoor venue, creating an electric atmosphere that resonated with the longtime fans brave enough to be challenged by the heat that night.
Accopanying Jim Kerr was fellow original member Charlie Burchill and a backing band of complete and total rockstars, all of whom combined to give an arena-worthy performance in spite of the non-capacity crowd in the Midwest summer heat. It was truly an impressive set, and Indiana was lucky to have scored a tour stop.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, the concert featured support from fellow 80's hitmakers Soft Cell and Modern English, both of whom brought their own unique flair to the lineup. Soft Cell, best known for their groundbreaking single "Tainted Love," delivered a compelling performance that showcased their distinctive blend of pop and electronic music, engaging the audience with frontman Marc Almond's infectious energy and bandmate David Ball's synth masterpieces. Their set was a nostalgic journey that reminded fans of the band's significant impact on the music scene during and since the 1980s.

Modern English, celebrated for their classic track "I Melt with You," also graced the stage, offering a vibrant performance in spite of the challenge of the weather and the sparse early crowd. Their sound, characterized by jangly guitars and emotive lyrics, perfectly complemented the evening's festivities, and the audience helped by singing along to their familiar tunes.
The combination of these three iconic bands created a unique and euphoric experience for concertgoers, who were treated to a night filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and the timeless appeal of 80's music hits. As the sun set over the Ruoff Music Center, the magical atmosphere was palpable, reminding everyone in attendance of the lasting legacy of these artists and the enduring power of their music. The concert not only celebrated the hits that defined a generation but also highlighted the ongoing relevance of their artistry in today's musical landscape.
Even with the searing heat, it was nice to have Simple Minds, Soft Cell, and Modern English Melt With Us At Ruoff Music Center.

Awesome review and killer photos, John! Any word on whether Megadeth will be returning to Indiana again this year or if more Retro Bowl College tour dates are expected to be added? Would love to catch them live again!
